Datadog Synthetics Alternative With Flat Pricing and a Status Page

Datadog Synthetic Monitoring is one module inside the larger Datadog observability platform, and it is powerful if you are already all in on Datadog for logs, APM, and infrastructure. Synthetics is metered by test-run volume, with API tests billed per run and browser tests billed per test step, so a busy check schedule or a multi-step browser journey adds up quickly and the bill moves with usage. For a team that just wants to know its sites, APIs, and certificates are healthy, buying into a full observability suite and watching a run meter is more platform than the job needs. Uptimehub does the monitoring part directly. You point it at a URL or endpoint, choose a check type, and it runs from six global regions with auto-retry on by default, priced as a flat charge per monitor with no per-run metering and no overage bills. Uptime, keyword, API, ping, TCP, SSL, DNS, and cron checks are all in the one plan, and a branded public status page is bundled rather than sold as a separate product. If you already run Datadog across your stack and want synthetics inside that single pane, Datadog fits. If you want dependable uptime and API monitoring plus a status page, at a price you can predict, without adopting an observability platform, Uptimehub is the leaner buy.

FAQ

Questions buyers ask about switching from Datadog Synthetics

Datadog bills synthetics per test run on top of the platform subscription, with API tests and browser tests metered separately. Their pricing page did not expose a readable per-run figure to us in July 2026, so we are not quoting one. Budget by requesting a quote, and model the frequency you want, because run volume is the variable that drives the number.

If you want the checks without the platform, Uptimehub runs HTTP, API, keyword, SSL, DNS, TCP and cron checks from six global regions at a flat per-monitor price with no run metering, and includes a branded status page. You lose the correlation with traces and logs, which is the main reason to stay on Datadog if you already use it.

Rarely. The value of Datadog synthetics is that a failing check sits in the same timeline as your traces, logs and infrastructure metrics, so you move from detection to diagnosis in one click. If you are not already on the platform, buying into it to find out whether an endpoint is up costs far more than a dedicated uptime tool.

Yes. Datadog supports multistep API tests where one response feeds the next request, which handles token exchanges and chained workflows properly, plus scripted browser tests. Uptimehub does not run chained or scripted journeys, so if that is your requirement Datadog or Checkly is the honest recommendation.

Cut run frequency on non-critical tests, replace browser tests with API tests wherever a script is not genuinely needed, and remove duplicate tests covering the same failure. The structural fix is moving basic availability checks to a per-monitor tool and keeping Datadog for the endpoints where trace correlation actually earns its cost.
