Better Stack has no plan ladder. There is one free base plan holding 10 monitors, 10 heartbeats and 1 status page, and roughly twenty separately priced add-ons on top of it, so you do not pick a tier, you assemble a bill. Monitors come in packs of 50 at $25 a month, on-call responders are $34 each, and six of the status page add-ons are billed per page per month, four of them at $250 each. A single status page carrying white labeling, SSO, IP allowlisting and email from your own domain costs $1,000 a month before you have monitored anything.
Most pricing pages ask you to pick a column. Better Stack asks you to build one. That is unusual enough to be worth stating plainly, because it changes how you have to evaluate the product: there is no tier whose price you can quote to your finance team, only a sum that depends on decisions you have not made yet. The free tier is real and generous for one small service, and the first monitor pack is genuinely good value. The surprise sits in the middle of the range, where a handful of features that most vendors treat as settings are priced at $250 a month each.

Two lines in that table are easy to walk past and both cost real money. The first is transaction monitoring at $1 per 100 Playwright minutes, which is a fourth way of metering browser checks. Datadog and Checkly meter browser work per run, Dynatrace meters it per user action, and Better Stack meters it per minute of execution time. Metering by time means a page that gets slower gets more expensive, so a performance regression raises your monitoring bill at exactly the moment you least want a surprise. One 30 second journey running every five minutes for a month is 4,320 Playwright minutes, or $43.20. Run it every minute and it is $216.
The second is the split between the two kinds of SSO. Account SSO through Azure or Okta is $5 per user per month, which is normal market pricing. Status page SSO, meaning SSO for the people reading your public status page, is $250 per page per month. They are different products with similar names sitting a few rows apart on the same price list, and they differ by a factor of fifty at a single user.
The per-page ladder

This is the part of Better Stack's pricing that catches people out, so it is worth working through slowly. An extra public status page is $15 a month, which is cheap. Everything that makes that page look and behave like it belongs to your company is priced separately, per page, and four of those five things cost $250 a month each.

None of these are mutually exclusive. A regulated company that wants its status page unbranded, behind SSO, restricted to corporate networks and sending subscriber email from its own domain is buying four separate $250 add-ons for one page. That is $1,000 a month, or $12,000 a year, for a single web page that lists whether some services are green. Add password authentication and custom styling and it is $1,065 a month.
The multiplier that matters more for most buyers is simpler: white labeling costs about 17 times what the page itself costs. An extra page is $15. Removing the vendor logo from it is $250. If you run status pages for clients, that ratio is the entire pricing conversation.

Pack arithmetic
Monitors sell in fifties, heartbeats sell in tens, and that gap is 4x
Better Stack does not sell monitors individually. Beyond the ten included, they arrive in blocks of 50 at $25 a month, which works out at 50 cents each if you fill the block and $2.27 each if you needed one more monitor than the free tier holds. Cron heartbeats are sold the same way but in blocks of ten at $20, which is $2 per heartbeat.
A cron heartbeat at Better Stack costs exactly four times what an HTTP monitor costs. $25 buys 50 monitors, at 50 cents each. $20 buys 10 heartbeats, at $2 each. On yearly billing the ratio is the same, $0.42 against $1.70. Nothing on the pricing page flags this, and a heartbeat is technically the cheaper check to run because the vendor is receiving a ping rather than making a request.

Block pricing is not unreasonable in itself, and it is common in this market. What it does mean is that your cost per monitor swings by more than five times depending on where in a block you happen to sit, and that adding a single check can double a line on the invoice. If you are near a boundary, it is worth knowing before the renewal rather than after. The same applies to status page subscribers, which are included up to 1,000 per page and then $40 for each additional 1,000, so a page with 10,000 subscribers carries $360 a month of subscriber cost on its own.
Region premium
US customers pay 50 percent more than European ones for the same telemetry
Better Stack prices its logs, metrics and traces by hosting region, and the differences are large. This matters most to US buyers, because the US is the expensive region. If your data residency requirements are loose, the region selector on the vendor's pricing page is worth several thousand dollars a year at volume.

The Nano bundle is $30 a month in Europe, $45 in the United States and $105 in Singapore. That is a 50 percent premium for US hosting and a 250 percent premium for Singapore, on identical included volume. Pay as you go follows the same pattern: ingestion is $0.10 per GB in Europe against $0.15 in the US, and retention is $0.05 per GB per month against $0.08. At 500 GB a month of ingest, the region choice alone is $25 a month, and the retention differential compounds on top of it for as long as you keep the data.
None of that applies to uptime monitoring, status pages or on-call, which are priced identically everywhere. It is worth separating in your head, because a lot of Better Stack cost writing treats the platform as one product when the uptime side and the telemetry side price on completely different logic.

The solo developer row is the fair one, and it is worth dwelling on because it is where Better Stack looks best. At 30 monitors and one responder the bill is $59, and if that developer can live inside the free tier's ten monitors it is $0. There is no version of our pricing that beats free. The gap opens where branding, seats and client pages enter the picture, because those are the three things Better Stack prices separately and we price as plan features.

Where Better Stack's pricing is good, and where it is not
Genuinely good value
- The free tier. Ten monitors, ten heartbeats and a status page at no cost is more than most vendors give away, and it is a base plan rather than a trial.
- Free viewers. Only people who can be paged cost money. Colleagues who read dashboards are $0, which is the right way to split a seat charge.
- Filled monitor packs. At 60 monitors you are paying 42 cents each on yearly billing, which is competitive with anything in this market.
- One platform. Uptime, logs, metrics, traces, error tracking, session replay and on-call in one account is a real consolidation saving if you would otherwise buy four products.
Where the bill gets away from you
- Per-page add-ons. Four features at $250 per page per month, all of which can apply to the same page, is the single largest cost risk on the price list.
- Heartbeat packs. Four times the per-unit cost of a monitor, for a check type that is cheaper to operate.
- No quotable price. With no tiers, nobody can tell you what Better Stack costs without first knowing your full configuration, which makes budgeting and renewals harder than they need to be.
- US region premium. Half again on telemetry volume compared with Europe, on a page most people never scroll to.
We sell uptime monitoring, so treat the comparison column on this page as what it is. The useful thing to take away is the shape rather than the verdict: Better Stack's model rewards small, single-team, single-page setups and charges steeply for anything with client branding or multiple audiences. If your setup is one product, one status page and a handful of on-call engineers, it is a reasonable deal. If you are an agency or an MSP running a branded page per client, the arithmetic is not close, and that is worth checking before you migrate rather than after.

Better Stack sells a free base plan plus add-ons. Below about 60 monitors with no branding requirement the two land in the same range. Once you need branded status pages, UptimeRobot is dramatically cheaper because it does not price branding per page.
What is a responder in Better Stack?
A responder is a seat that can be added to an on-call schedule and paged during an incident. It bundles Uptime and Telemetry access and costs $34 a month, or $29 billed yearly. Colleagues who only read dashboards or logs do not need one, which is a genuinely fair split and keeps the seat cost tied to who actually carries the pager.
How much do Better Stack logs cost?
Logs are sold either in bundles or pay as you go. In the US region, ingestion is $0.15 per GB and retention $0.08 per GB per month, with bundles from $45 a month for the Nano tier covering 40 GB each of logs, metrics and traces.
