UptimeRobot costs nothing for 50 monitors at 5 minute checks, then $12 a month for Solo, $39 for Team and $79 for Scale when billed annually, or $13, $46 and $98 billed monthly. The paid tiers sell speed rather than capacity: Solo drops you from the free plan's 50 monitors to 10 while cutting the check interval from 5 minutes to 60 seconds. That makes Solo the most expensive plan on the ladder per monitor at $1.20 each, against $0.39 on Team. You do not reach the free plan's 50 monitor capacity again until you pay $468 a year for Team.
That last point is the one worth sitting with, because it inverts how almost every other monitoring vendor prices. On most tools the free tier is small and each paid step gives you more of everything. On UptimeRobot the free tier is the most generous capacity you can get without a Team subscription, and the paid ladder is a speed ladder wearing a capacity ladder's clothing.

UptimeRobot's pricing page shows two numbers per plan with a billing toggle and no label saying which is which. The yearly totals resolve it: $144 divided by 12 is $12, $468 divided by 12 is $39, and $948 divided by 12 is $79. So the lower figure in each pair is the annual rate and the higher one is what you pay month to month.

One detail the marketing does not draw attention to: the advertised saving for paying yearly is "~15%", but it is not 15% on any plan. Solo saves 7.7%, Team saves 15.2% and Scale saves 19.4%. The plan a small team is most likely to buy gets barely half the headline discount.
The first paid plan gives you 80% fewer monitors than the free one
The free plan holds 50 monitors. Solo, the first plan you pay for, holds 10. Moving from Free to Solo costs $144 a year and takes 40 monitors away from you. Nothing on the pricing page frames it that way, and it catches people out constantly: a small agency watching 30 client sites for free upgrades for faster checks and discovers it now has room for a third of them.
You do not get back to the free plan's capacity until Team, at $468 a year. So the honest way to read this ladder is that the free tier is the capacity product and the paid tiers are the latency product. If your problem is "I have a lot of things to watch", the free plan is the answer until you cross 50. If your problem is "I need to know within a minute", you are buying Solo for the interval and the extra check types, not the monitors.

What an UptimeRobot monitor actually costs
Divide each plan's annual rate by the monitors it includes and the ladder stops looking like a ladder. Solo is not a cheap way in. It is the most expensive monitor UptimeRobot sells, by a factor of three.

The practical rule: if you are on Solo and using more than about four of its ten monitors, work out what Team costs you per monitor before you add the fifth. Solo plus one extra seat is $324 a year, which is two thirds of Team's $468 for a tenth of the capacity.
What each step up the speed ladder buys, in seconds
Since the paid tiers really sell check frequency, the fair way to price them is per second of detection time removed. For a continuous outage, average detection delay is roughly half the check interval, because the failure can start anywhere in the gap between two checks. Here is what each upgrade costs against what it actually saves.

The curve is steep. The first upgrade removes two minutes of blindness for $1.20 a second a year, which is easy to justify for anything customer facing. The last one removes seven and a half seconds for $64 a second a year, which is 53 times the rate of the first. Somewhere in the middle is the point where you should stop buying interval and start fixing how fast your team responds once the alert fires, because a 7 second improvement in detection is worthless if the pager takes four minutes to reach a human. Seats: on Solo, one teammate costs more than the plan
Login seats are for people who need to open the dashboard and manage monitors. Solo bundles 3, Team and Scale bundle 5, and extras are $15 a month each on annual billing or $19 month to month. UptimeRobot also separates notify seats, for people who only need to receive the alert, which is a genuinely sensible split and keeps you from paying full price for someone who just wants the Slack ping.
The arithmetic gets awkward on Solo. The plan is $12 a month. One extra login seat is $15. So the fourth person to need dashboard access costs 125% of everything else you are paying, and two extra seats put you at $42 a month, which is more than Team at $39 with its 100 monitors and 5 included seats. If you are on Solo and about to add a seat, price Team first: it is almost always the cheaper move.
SMS and voice credits are bought, not included
Text and phone alerts run on prepaid credits that do not renew with your plan. Solo includes 10 to 20, Team includes 30, Scale includes 50 to 200, and the free plan includes none. After that you buy packs, and the per-credit price falls sharply with volume.

The smallest pack costs three times as much per credit as the largest. Credits are shared across the whole team, and they can be topped up automatically when they run low, which is worth switching on before it matters.
Why you may have seen euros, and why the two lists do not match
UptimeRobot localizes its pricing page by visitor location. Loaded from a US address it renders dollars. Loaded from a European address it renders euros: EUR 9, EUR 35 and EUR 65 a month annually, or EUR 108, EUR 420 and EUR 780 a year. A lot of comparison articles quote whichever one their author happened to see, which is why you will find both sets of numbers online attributed to the same plans.
The interesting part is that the two lists are not a conversion of each other. If they were, one exchange rate would explain all three tiers. Converting the euro annual totals at the reference rate on the day we checked gives three different implied rates.

Solo implies 1.33 dollars to the euro, Team implies 1.11 and Scale implies 1.22. No single exchange rate produces that spread, so these are two independently set price lists that happen to sit on the same page. For a US buyer the practical consequence is small but real: you pay about 14% more than a European customer for Solo, about 4% less for Team and about 4% more for Scale, and none of that moves when the currency does, because your list price is fixed in dollars.
The free plan, and the commercial use question everyone gets wrong
The free plan gives you 50 monitors at 5 minute checks, one status page, 3 months of log retention and the core check types, with no card required. That is more free capacity than almost any competitor offers, and it is the reason UptimeRobot is the default recommendation in so many threads.
In late 2024 UptimeRobot changed its terms to restrict the free plan to personal, non-commercial use, and that change was written up widely. A great deal of that coverage is still the top result today. As of August 2026, UptimeRobot's own help center says the opposite: that the free plan is available for any use including commercial and business use, that it suits freelancers and small businesses monitoring client sites, and that there is no personal-only restriction. The only stated constraint is a fair use policy about how the service is used rather than who is using it.
We are reporting what the vendor currently documents, not adjudicating the change. If a client's monitoring depends on it, read the current terms yourself rather than trusting either the 2024 articles or this page. Terms move, and the free tier is exactly the kind of thing that gets tightened again.
What the free plan leaves out
- Checks no faster than 5 minutes, so average detection is around 2.5 minutes.
- No SSL or domain expiry monitoring, which is the check most likely to save you from a self-inflicted outage.
- No DNS, API or UDP monitoring, and no multi-location checks.
- No SMS or voice credits included, and monthly email reports only for the first 3 months.
- One status page, on an UptimeRobot subdomain.
Single-location checking is the one that bites hardest in practice: a check that fails from one node cannot tell you whether the site is down or the node is. That is what multi-location monitoring exists to rule out.

Where UptimeRobot wins
At $0 there is no contest. Fifty monitors at 5 minute checks for nothing is a real product, and we do not have a free tier to put against it. If your budget is zero, use theirs. They also reach 15 second checks on Scale, and we stop at 30 seconds, so a trading platform or payments API that genuinely needs sub-10-second average detection should buy Scale and not us.
Where we win
On the paid entry point and on seats. Starter is $9 for 20 monitors against Solo's $12 for 10, and Pro is $29 for the same 100 monitors at 30 seconds that Team charges $39 for, which is $120 a year on identical capacity. One honest caveat about the seat comparison: UptimeRobot's split between login seats and notify seats means the $15 charge only applies to people who need to manage monitors, not to everyone who receives an alert. That is a fairer model than a flat per-user charge, and it is worth knowing before you assume a ten person team means ten seats.

How many monitors do you get with UptimeRobot?
Fifty on the free plan, 10 on Solo, 100 on Team and 200 to 500 on Scale. The Scale listing says "starts at" and UptimeRobot does not publish the price for its 500 monitor ceiling, so treat anything above 200 monitors as a figure you have to ask for.

Is UptimeRobot worth paying for?
