Zabbix pricing and Zabbix Cloud cost per month
Zabbix Cloud does not charge per host. It charges for how fast your data arrives. Put in your devices, metrics and check interval, and the calculator runs Zabbix's own formula, picks the tier, adds storage and shows how close you are to the next price step.
Zabbix Cloud cost calculator
LiveFormula, tier limits, suggested storage and the $0.30 per GB storage rate are read from the calculator script on zabbix.com/cloud. Zabbix calls its prices starting points that can vary with configuration. Proxies and manual backups are priced separately and are not included.
How much does Zabbix cost?
Zabbix software has no license fee. You pay for it in one of two ways. Zabbix Cloud, the hosted version, is priced by how many new values per second (NVPS) your monitoring sends: $50 a month for the Nano tier, then $100, $250, $750, $1,875, $2,500 and $5,000 for 2xLarge at up to 10,000 NVPS, plus $0.30 a month for every GB of storage above the free 10 GB. Self-hosted Zabbix is free to run, and a support subscription costs $325 a month for Silver or from $825 a month for Gold, both billed annually.
Most write-ups of Zabbix pricing copy the seven-row tier table and stop there, and at least one cost site lists Silver support at $50 a month, which is the Nano cloud tier, not a support plan. The useful detail is in the calculator Zabbix ships on its own pricing page. It shows how NVPS is counted, which side of each boundary a tier sits on, how storage is priced and what the annual discount actually covers. We read that script line by line, and every figure on this page comes from it or from the Zabbix subscriptions page.

Zabbix Cloud pricing for all seven tiers, with the storage Zabbix suggests
The headline prices on zabbix.com are compute only. Zabbix's calculator also suggests a storage size for each tier, and everything above the free 10 GB is billed at $0.30 a GB a month. Add the two and the Nano price holds, while every tier above it costs between 7.6% and 12% more than its sticker.
Monthly bill by tier, compute plus suggested storage
Log scale| Tier | NVPS it holds | Compute, month | Suggested storage | Storage, month | Total, month | Total, annual plan | Compute per NVPS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nano | 1 to 49 | $50 | 10 GB | $0 | $50 | $540 a year | $1.00 |
| Micro | 50 to 99 | $100 | 50 GB | $12 | $112 | $1,224 a year | $1.00 |
| Small | 100 to 249 | $250 | 100 GB | $27 | $277 | $3,024 a year | $1.00 |
| Medium | 250 to 999 | $750 | 200 GB | $57 | $807 | $8,784 a year | $0.75 |
| Large | 1,000 to 2,499 | $1,875 | 500 GB | $147 | $2,022 | $22,014 a year | $0.75 |
| xLarge | 2,500 to 4,999 | $2,500 | 1,000 GB | $297 | $2,797 | $30,564 a year | $0.50 |
| 2xLarge | 5,000 to 10,000 | $5,000 | 2,000 GB | $597 | $5,597 | $61,164 a year | $0.50 |
Two details in that table are not on the tier card. First, the boundaries. Zabbix labels Nano "50 NVPS", but its calculator assigns a tier with a strict "less than", so a setup that produces exactly 50 values a second is already Micro at twice the price. Every tier really holds one value a second less than its label. Second, the unit price falls in only three steps: $1.00 per NVPS up to Small, $0.75 on Medium and Large, $0.50 on xLarge and 2xLarge. Above 10,000 NVPS there is no published tier at all, and the calculator simply reports that the highest tier stops there.
The update interval sets your Zabbix Cloud bill more than the number of hosts
Zabbix's formula is devices times metrics, divided by sixty times the interval in minutes. Hosts and interval sit on opposite sides of that fraction, so collecting every minute instead of every five multiplies your NVPS by five, exactly as adding four times as many hosts would. Here is Zabbix's own default example, 250 devices with 50 metrics each, at five intervals.
| 250 devices, 50 metrics, every | NVPS | Tier | Monthly, with suggested storage |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 minutes | 21 | Nano | $50 |
| 5 minutes | 42 | Nano | $50 |
| 3 minutes | 70 | Micro | $112 |
| 2 minutes | 105 | Small | $277 |
| 1 minute | 209 | Small | $277 |
The practical lesson is that Zabbix Cloud rewards tuning. Real Zabbix templates do not collect every item at the same speed: CPU and interface counters may run every minute while disk inventory or software versions run hourly or daily. The calculator assumes one interval for everything, so it overstates the rate for a tuned setup and understates it for one where someone set every item to 30 seconds. Before you pick a tier, count the items that actually run fast. Our uptime calculator is useful for the other half of that trade, because a slower interval also means a longer time before anyone notices a failure.
Where one more value a second costs over a thousand dollars
Because the tiers are blocks, the cost of growth arrives in jumps. Most jumps are between two and three times the previous compute price. One is far worse than the rest, and one is the best deal on the card.
Medium to Large, +$1,125
At 999 NVPS you pay $750. At 1,000 you pay $1,875, two and a half times as much, for one extra value a second. With suggested storage the bill goes from $807 to $2,022.
Small to Medium, 3x
The biggest multiplier on the card. 249 NVPS costs $250 and 250 costs $750, but Medium then holds four times as much data, so it is good value if you will grow into it.
Large to xLarge, only +33%
xLarge doubles capacity from 2,500 to 5,000 NVPS for $625 more. If a Large node is filling up, the next tier is the cheapest headroom Zabbix sells.
Running close to a boundary has a cost that is not on the invoice. Zabbix's FAQ says values above the NVPS limit are "discarded at random". Nothing stops and nothing errors. The node simply stops recording some of what it receives, and the dropped value can be the one that would have opened a problem. Treat each tier ceiling as a hard wall and keep real headroom below it; the calculator above shows how far you are from the next step.
Zabbix support subscription prices for a self-hosted install
Self-hosted Zabbix has no license fee, so a subscription mostly buys people: response times, a number of support cases, and on the higher tiers consulting hours and training. Zabbix prices it by coverage, not by how many hosts you watch.
| Subscription | Price, billed annually | Per year | Zabbix servers covered | Support hours | First response |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Silver | $325 a month | $3,900 | 1, no proxies, 8 cases | 8x5 | 1 business day |
| Gold | From $825 a month | From $9,900 | Priced per server and proxy | 8x5 | 4 hours |
| Platinum | Quote | Quote | Priced per server and proxy | 24x7 | 2 hours emergency |
| Enterprise | Quote | Quote | Unlimited | 24x7 | 1.5 hours emergency |
| Global | Quote | Quote | Unlimited, multiple legal entities | 24x7 | 1 hour emergency |
The EUR list on the same page reads €245 for Silver and from €660 for Gold. Silver is the honest comparison point for a small team: $3,900 a year buys a named route to the people who write Zabbix, eight cases and a next-business-day answer, with nothing outside office hours. Anything that needs a vendor on the phone at 2 a.m. starts at Platinum and a quote.
A support plan does not cover the rest of self-hosting: the server or VMs, the database behind Zabbix, backups, upgrades and the hours of someone who knows the product well. Those vary too much between teams to price here, and they are the reason Zabbix Cloud exists. Note that Cloud customers only get platform-level support, so help with items, triggers and alerts is a separate purchase on that side too. For a wider view across self-hosted tools, our PRTG pricing breakdown and Nagios XI pricing cover the two commercial rivals Zabbix is usually shortlisted against, and the cost of each against Zabbix is set out in Zabbix vs PRTG pricing.
Six things the Zabbix Cloud price does not tell you
All six come from the FAQ at the bottom of Zabbix's own cloud page. None of them is a reason to rule it out, but each is worth knowing before you sign.
A weekly maintenance window
Every node needs at least one hour a week set aside for maintenance, and Zabbix says nodes may be taken offline during it. You choose the hour, so pick your quietest one.
Data over the limit is dropped
Values above your tier's NVPS are discarded at random rather than queued or billed. Size with headroom.
No migration in, no backup out
There is currently no way to import an existing Zabbix instance, and node backups cannot be exported. Moving to or from Cloud means rebuilding the configuration.
Some item types are missing
External checks and SNMP traps are not supported, and ODBC monitoring only works for MySQL and PostgreSQL.
Platform support only
The subscription covers deploying and reaching your node. Help building items, triggers and alerts is sold separately as technical support or consulting.
Proxies are extra
A node runs in one of five regions. Monitoring from other locations means Zabbix proxies, priced outside the tier card, and manual backups cost extra depending on node size.
What Zabbix Cloud costs if you only need website and API uptime checks
Zabbix checks websites with web scenarios. A one-step scenario creates six items, three for the scenario and three for the step (download speed, response time and response code), so at a one-minute interval each site adds a tenth of a value per second. That puts 490 sites on Nano for $50 a month. The 491st site takes the node to exactly 50 NVPS and, because of the strict boundary, to Micro at $112.
On raw price per URL that is cheaper than us, and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise. If you already run Zabbix for your servers and want a few web checks beside them, add the scenarios and keep the money. The comparison changes when the job is proving that customers can reach you.
| 400 public sites, checked every minute | Zabbix Cloud Nano | UptimeHub Business |
|---|---|---|
| Price, annual billing | $540 a year | $1,188 a year ($99 a month) |
| Where checks run from | The one region your node lives in | 6 global regions, with auto-retry before an alert |
| Fastest interval | Any, but faster raises NVPS and the tier | Every 30 seconds, included |
| Set-up per site | Web scenario, trigger and action you build | Paste the URL, alerts on by default |
| Planned blind spot | Weekly maintenance hour, node may be offline | None scheduled for you |
| Public status page for customers | Not included | Branded page included on every plan |
| SSL and domain expiry | Possible with templates you configure | Built in for every monitored site |
A single checking location is the part that matters most for a public site. When the only monitor sits in one data center, a network problem between that data center and your host looks like an outage, and a regional outage your customers can see may look fine from where the check runs. UptimeHub confirms a failure from more than one of its six regions before it alerts, and the same monitors power a branded status page, which is the piece a customer-facing team usually needs and Zabbix does not provide. See multi-location monitoring for how that check works.
Where these numbers come from, and what we do not claim
Tier prices, the NVPS formula, the tier boundaries, the suggested storage per tier, the $0.30 per GB storage rate and the annual discount rule all come from the pricing section and the calculator script on zabbix.com/cloud, in USD. The maintenance, NVPS overflow, backup, migration and support facts come from the FAQ on the same page. Subscription prices and inclusions come from zabbix.com/subscriptions. The web scenario item count comes from the Zabbix manual's web monitoring items page. Every total, ratio and boundary on this page is arithmetic on those published figures.
We do not state Zabbix Cloud Proxy prices or manual backup costs, which Zabbix does not publish on the pricing page, nor partner, MSP or multi-year discounts, nor how often maintenance windows actually take a node offline. Zabbix itself calls its tier prices starting points that can vary with configuration, so treat the calculator as the list-price estimate it is.
Zabbix pricing questions
What does Zabbix cost per month?
The Zabbix software itself costs nothing to license. Zabbix Cloud, the hosted version, runs from $50 a month for the Nano tier to $5,000 a month for 2xLarge, priced by new values per second, plus $0.30 per GB of storage above 10 GB. If you host it yourself, optional support subscriptions start at $325 a month for Silver, billed annually.
How much does Zabbix Cloud cost?
Zabbix Cloud costs $50 a month for Nano, $100 for Micro, $250 for Small, $750 for Medium, $1,875 for Large, $2,500 for xLarge and $5,000 for 2xLarge. Storage is extra at $0.30 a GB a month above the included 10 GB, and an annual plan takes 10% off the compute price only. With Zabbix's recommended storage, Micro comes to $112 a month and Large to $2,022.
Is Zabbix free?
Yes, the Zabbix software is open source with no license fee, and no limit on hosts, users or metrics. What costs money is running it: your own server and the time to maintain it, an optional support subscription, or Zabbix Cloud, where Zabbix runs the server for you and charges by data rate.
Is Zabbix free for commercial use?
Yes. Zabbix states that its open-source software has no license fee, and businesses run it in production without paying Zabbix anything. Companies that want a vendor to call pay for a support subscription, which Zabbix prices by response time and coverage rather than by the number of devices you monitor.
What is NVPS in Zabbix Cloud pricing?
NVPS means new values per second: how many measurements your Zabbix server receives every second. Zabbix's own calculator works it out as devices times metrics per device, divided by sixty times the update interval in minutes. 250 devices with 50 metrics each, collected every 5 minutes, is 42 NVPS. Collected every minute, it is 209.
How much is Zabbix support?
Zabbix Silver support costs $325 a month and Gold starts at $825 a month, both billed annually, so $3,900 and $9,900 a year. Silver covers one Zabbix server, 8 support cases and a one business day response. Platinum, Enterprise and Global are quoted individually and add 24x7 cover and faster emergency response.
What happens if I go over my Zabbix Cloud NVPS limit?
Zabbix says values above the tier's NVPS limit are discarded at random. Your monitoring keeps running but silently loses data, which can include the value that would have fired an alert. You can move to a higher tier at any time from the node configuration, and an upgrade takes about ten minutes.
Does Zabbix Cloud have an annual discount?
Yes, Zabbix advertises 10% off for an annual subscription, but its own calculator applies it to the compute tier only, not to storage. At the storage Zabbix recommends for each tier, the real saving on the whole bill is between 8.9% and 10.0%. Nano with the free 10 GB is the only tier that gets the full 10%.
Is there a Zabbix Cloud free trial?
Yes, Zabbix Cloud has a 5-day free trial. If you have not added a payment method by the end of it, the node is stopped and then deleted five days after the trial ends. There is no permanent free tier on the cloud product; the free option is self-hosting the open-source software.
Is Zabbix good for website uptime monitoring?
It can do it through web scenarios, and on price it is hard to beat: a single-step scenario creates six items, so Nano holds about 490 sites checked every minute for $50 a month. The limits are elsewhere. Each check runs from one place, you build the triggers and alerts yourself, and there is no public status page for customers.
Keep Zabbix for the servers and watch the public side from outside
UptimeHub checks your sites, APIs, ports, SSL certificates and cron jobs from six regions, every 30 seconds on Pro and above, retries before it pages anyone, and powers a branded status page on every plan. No node to size, no maintenance hour, no NVPS.
